Childrens With Autism can join mainstream with some help.

Adv Nilesh Varlekar, Psychiatrist Kritika Padmanabhan, Director of DXN Company Dr. Rajesh Savera, and Pratik, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Department, were present at the event. Dr. Bachhao highlighted that the center offers various methods such as acupressure, speech therapy, and hydrotherapy for special children. To promote economic self-reliance, the center provides business training tailored to their skills and organizes trips to gardens, museums, sports centers, schools, and libraries to ease their interaction with the outside world. Psychiatrist Kritika Padmanabhan noted that while it’s challenging to make special children completely “normal” through treatment alone, effective management can create an environment conducive to self-reliance. She emphasized that both special children and their parents need training and counseling to navigate these challenges effectively.

Pune, July 24 (UNI) — Autism is a neurological condition in children, but it is often misunderstood as mental retardation, a misconception prevalent in society, said Dr. Dipti Bachhao during a lecture on Wednesday. She emphasized that autism is a congenital condition and that with proper understanding and development of their talents, these children can lead normal lives. Dr. Bachhao urged for their acceptance and integration into mainstream society. She was addressing parents of special children at an event organized by the ACCTS Socio Education Welfare Foundation, which has established a training and treatment center for children with autism, named ‘Awesome Kids,’ near Baner. The center was inaugurated by senior social activist Manav Kamble.

Nilesh Varlekar stated, “Parents experience significant stress while raising special children. Therefore, it is not sufficient to train only the children; parents also need specialized training. Recognizing this need, the center will provide training for both special children and their parents. This includes offering special training for parents from economically backward sections.”
